Japan, as a production country
Most brands we work with already produce outside their home market. They know how to brief a factory, approve a sample and manage a delivery. What they lack in Japan is access: to mills, to sewing factories, and to someone who handles the language, the specifications and the daily follow-up.
BONSAI is that someone. We are not a factory and not a marketplace. We are your production office in Japan: we select the factory, source the fabric, run sampling and production, inspect, and export. You work with one system, in your own language.
"Made in Japan" comes with it. We do not sell it as a story. We sell a production country that works.
What we handle
Japanese fabrics
Access to in-stock fabrics from Japanese mills and converters, with swatches shipped to you.
Domestic sewing factories
Factory selection based on product type, construction and quantity. All factories are in Japan.
Production management
Sampling, approvals, order confirmation and production follow-up, with clear dates and one point of contact.
Inspection / QC
Final inspection with quantities, defect rates and photos, reported before shipment.
Export and documents
Invoice, packing list, tracking and export paperwork prepared for your import.
Digital workflow
Tech pack check, status tracking, translated communication and change detection, in one project page.
How it works

Create a production request
Register your brand and describe the style: category, quantity, target date, target price, fabric preference.

Tech pack check
Upload your tech pack and production pattern. We list what is missing or inconsistent and show a Production Readiness score until it is ready.
- 03
Fabric and sample
Choose from Japanese in-stock fabrics, receive swatches, then approve a sample made by the selected factory.

Quote and production
Confirm the quote, then follow production with simple status updates and expected dates.

Inspection, payment and shipment
Review the inspection result, pay from the project page and receive tracking and documents.
Requirements
BONSAI is built for brands that already produce in volume. To keep sampling and production efficient, we ask for the following.
- Established brands
- You run an apparel brand with continuous production and wholesale or DTC sales. We do not work with new brands or individuals.
- MOQ 300 pcs per style
- Minimum order quantity is 300 pieces per style, across sizes and colors.
- Production-ready pattern and tech pack
- You provide the production pattern (graded), the tech pack with measurements, and a reference sample where possible.
- Existing styles first
- We start with production transfer of styles you already sell. New product development is not part of the initial service.
A production office that runs on software
Every project lives on one page. Communication, files, decisions and status are recorded so nothing is lost between you, BONSAI and the factory.
Tech Pack Check
Missing information, conflicts between documents and unclear specifications are listed per item, with a Production Readiness score.
Automatic translation
You write in your language. Factories read Japanese. Translation is built in and specifications are kept consistent.
Specification change detection
When a message changes a material, a measurement or a date, the change is captured as before / after with its cost and delivery impact.
Risk alerts
Delivery, quantity and quality risks are flagged early and escalated to a person when it matters.
Status and action required
Your project page always shows where the order is and what we need from you next.
Country of origin
Garments are sewn in Japan and can be labeled Made in Japan in accordance with the applicable rules of your market. Fabrics are Japanese unless you specify otherwise.
